What we call depression - isn't it just being stuck in a situation which you don't like and which you can't change?
Not being content with what you have, and not knowing what direction to take. You think about it - and you see no outs. It's driving you mad. How can we talk about a cure for depression if so? |

| Hello, I think that for some people it may result from a chemical imbalance in the brain, although I do think that aint-depression/anxiety drugs are overly prescribed. For most folks I believe that self-talk is a MAJOR key (look at the huge success rate of cognitive therapies. |

The tonality that you use to talk to yourself will have a greater bearing on how good or bad you feel rather than the words themselves per se.
Do this as an experiment... in your head, berate yourself using the strongest possible words, but do it with the sexiest voice you can bear.
Next, tell yourself the kindest most loving things a person could say and do it in the voice of Karen Walker from 'Will & Grace', or whomever is the most grating or distasteful voice for you.
What's the difference? |
