Hello,

First I would like to say this is a nice forum, and thank you for any help.

My mother is a very stressed woman she is in her mid 50's retired. She recently got Bells Palsy around Christmas time I believe solely because of stress. This stress has been consuming her more and more lately. She was always a high strung person however now her stress seems to be growing. Causing health problems, and relationship problems. Lately many things about her personality seem to be self destructive.

Symptoms
-waiting to the last minute then causing severe stress
-Unable to complete tasks
-Constant stress about the smallest things.
-A lot of her stress gets projected to the people around her (mostly her husband)
-For any task around her to be completed it must be done exactly to her instruction or she will stress and explode on someone or anyone close.

I really feel stuck between rocks in a hard place. I have told her in the past that she should talk to someone to help her with her stress or stress management. She since has not of course seen anyone. I really believe that she may need medication or something to calm her. I have talked to my stepfather I can see that is taking more then the average amount of abuse from her. I worry that she will drive him over the edge someday, and cause him to loose it on her or leave her.

Any thoughts on what could be going on or what I could do to get her to some help.

Thank you

I am sorry to say that there isn't much you can do that will help her if she either doesn't admit to a problem in the first place or doesn't have any desire to get help. There isn't much you can do, you can't force her to receive help and maybe if her husband leaves her (hopefully he won't get physical) it might be the wake up call she needs. I am seeing a lot what she does is what I do and I want to change I am just not sure what is wrong or where to get help in my small town. But no not much you can do for someone not interested in help and while you can suggest you can't force her and you may ruin your relationship with her.

You can take anti-depressants. Like above.

It counteracts the unbalanced chemical in the brain causing obsessive compulsive disorders.
